Two shows this weekend!

The weather man is calling for lots of snow, but we’re calling for lots of good time music!

Join us from 10 – 1 Saturday night, January 31, at Mezé World Café on Market St. in downtown Roanoke and then again at 9 pm Sunday night at Martin’s on First Street for a special benefit show for our friend Hunter, who is battling breast cancer.

Presented by Roanoke Railhouse Brewery

Roanoke Railhouse Brewery
Lately, at our shows around Roanoke, we’ve been enjoying pints of a beer called Track 1, brewed right here by Roanoke Railhouse Brewery.

As luck would have it, these fine beer craftsmen like what we do, too!

Blue Moonshine is now proud to be presented by Roanoke Railhouse. We love that great beer is being brewed right here in the valley, and we’re going to make some great music to go along with it.

Find out where Roanoke Railhouse’s Track One is on tap.

Top ticket this Saturday night!

“Get a dose of forward-thinking bluegrass, with songs that match the players’ instrumental prowess.”

That’s what Mr. Tad Dickens of the Roanoke Times had to say about us, listing our gig this Saturday night, January 16, at Annie Moore’s Irish Pub as one of this weekend’s top tickets! Join us!

Blue Moonshine on the radio!

101.5 the music place

Roanoke has a great new AAA radio station, 101.5 The Music Place — they’re playing a great range of Americana and rock from early REM, Lyle Lovett, the Indigo Girls, all the way to contemporary string music like Old Crow Medicine Show and the Avett Brothers. And now they’re playing Blue Moonshine! Our song, “Your Love is On My Mind” was added to their play list over the weekend, and we heard it at 8:22 AM this morning (see their full playlist here).

Help support a great new station, and let them know you want to keep hearing Blue Moonshine! Those of you who can’t tune in over the air, you can listen online through a link at the top of their homepage.

Blue Moonshine – Your Love Is On My Mind

Helpless

Here’s a little taste of what you’re missing at our laid-back Sunday afternoons at Fork in the Alley.

Blue Moonshine – Helpless (Neil Young) – download

Thanks to Dewey for recording the show!

Tomorrow night, Thursday, November 12, we’re be performing for the private opening of the Junior League’s annual Stocked Market, and then Sunday afternoon we’ll be opening up a jar of good time at the Fork in the Alley again! See you at the show!

More Bluegrass Sunday afternoons at Fork in the Alley!

The series of Sunday afternoons we did at the Fork in the Alley were lots of fun, and so successful that we’re doing it again beginning this Sunday, November 8 through mid-December!

We’ll be on the warm-and-toasty covered patio on Sunday afternoons from 4 to 7 PM, providing color commentary on the NFL games and playing lots of good time music.

Join us on Sundays to see if Warren’s Saints can remain undefeated, if Phil’s Bills can win a game, and just how much fun a Sunday afternoon can be with some great food and your favorite rowdy string band.

Bluegrass Sunday Afternoons at Fork in the Alley

We’re going to be spending our Sunday afternoons at the Fork in the Alley in South Roanoke for the next few weeks, playing some good time music, eating some great food, and watching some football! Join us from 4 – 7 starting this Sunday September 20, then again on the 27th, October 4 and October 25! more show dates

Belated nomination for Country Song of the Year

It’s a late discovery, but the cool folks at maxbumps.net, who work to promote great music on thesixtyone, nominated our song, “Your Love is On My Mind” for Country Song of the Year last year. We didn’t win, but we’re still proud and grateful!

Buddy’s Back Yard – Live at Sunken Garden Sundays 6/21/09

Here’s a great live take of Will’s amazing song, “Buddy’s Back Yard,” from a fun evening of music opening for the Infamous Stringdusters back in June.
